The hosts were pleased to welcome Mrs. Nicole Davidson, mayor of Val-David, Mr. Jean-Pierre Hétu, political attaché of MNA Claude Cousineau, Mr. Jacques Gariepy, CEO of the SADC Laurentides, and Mr. Paul Calcé, director of the CLD Laurentides.

The gardens of Clef des Champs will be open to the public Wednesday to Sunday, from 10am to 5pm for 7 weeks starting July 14th, 2012 until September 2nd, 2012.

Unique in Canada, the terraced gardens of Clef des Champs are perched on a hillside in the magnificent Laurentians region. Essentially devoted to the production of medicinal plants, the originality, the diversity, and the beauty of the plants cultivated in these gardens make it a unique place for learning, relaxing, and discovering.

Clef des Champs is a certified organic producer of medicinal plant based natural products that has been operating in Val-David since its foundation in 1978. Its ambitious infrastructural project started in 2002 with the acquisition of a new plot to relocate its agricultural operation. Several impressive terraces were built on the flanks of a hill to ensure the successful growth of the production of medicinal plants. In 2010, Clef des Champs, started the last phase of its implementation with the construction of its head office. This LEED certified building covers 11,000 square feet and regroups under the same roof all of the company`s departments such as transformation, wrapping, storing, R&D, customer service, marketing, and administration.

Clef des Champs proposes various garden tour formulas. For those who choose to stroll through the gardens at their own pace, a self-guided circuit has been designed. Garden maps, as well as descriptive signs allow you to have an enjoyable and instructive visit. Audio guides are also available for a visit commented by Marie Provost, master herbalist and founder of Clef des Champs. For a more in depth adventure, a guide tour led by an herbalist is recommended. The tours last an hour and a half and allow for an exploration of the world of medicinal plants, their culture, their effects, and their uses.
